About Me.

Anna Fletcher.

Who am I?

I am a counsellor with a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester. I currently run a private practice in Stalybridge working with individuals and couples. I offer face to face counselling, telephone and online therapy. I’ve worked in a variety of settings including charity, education and private practice. I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I work integratively which means I use a range of approaches to find the best way for you to explore whatever thoughts and feelings you have in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.

I started out as a writer and journalist, but came to realise that the part I loved most about it was meeting people and hearing their stories. The experiences that made them who they are. It helped me to realise that my passion lay in counselling and psychotherapy and I’ve now been practising for around 8 years.

I feel really lucky to be part of my client’s journeys whether it’s supporting them in figuring out their stories, working towards a specific goal, helping them through a difficult period or making sense of their past and relationships.

What do I do?

I create a safe and warm environment without judgement so you can feel comfortable to talk and explore. I offer empathy, understanding and honesty as we work together to help you move forward, explore tools that may help you or gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. You can read more about the counselling process itself here.

I work with a range of issues, some of which include bereavement, anxiety, depression, family issues and dynamics, identity, low self-esteem, chronic illness, loneliness and relationship issues. I also work with life transitions, identity and change. This has included people leaving the military, education, workplace (retirement or job change), faith transition, leaving cults or religions, dissolution of friendship, family groups or communities. I work with you to navigate that journey both internally and externally.

I work hard to try and demystify the counselling process as much as possible as I know it can feel intimidating or overwhelming to start with. If you have any questions, get in touch and I’d be happy to talk more.
